Manufacturing Technology Centre
The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) has a vision ‘…to inspire Great British manufacturing on the global stage.’
MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HMVC), supported by Innovate UK, and specialises in digital manufacturing, additive manufacturing, automation and robotics. The HVMC is the catalyst for the future growth and success of advanced manufacturing in the UK. It consists of seven technology and innovation centres across the UK and its vision is to work with companies of all sizes to bridge the gap from concept to commercialisation.
MTC was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Its facility at Ansty Park in Coventry opened at the end of 2011, and it has subsequently opened three more facilities, including the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
Its members include global manufacturing companies from multiple sectors and its research partners include the University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and TWI Ltd.
On 30 November 2018, Business & Industry Minister Richard Harrington MP announced £72 million Government funding for the Transforming Construction Alliance (TCA) to deliver a national Core Innovation Hub (CIH). The funding followed a nationwide competition as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.
The Construction Innovation Hub draws on the expertise of:
- Building Research Establishment (BRE).
- Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB).
- Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).
